Belfast Cathedral Summer Music School presents...
Joseph and the Amazing Technicoloured Dreamcoat
Summer Music Course!
From the 16th-20th August, 9am-4pm, this course is for children ages 7-14.
Belfast Cathedral is offering children the opportunity to work with a team of specialist music tutors on this 5-day course, which will culminate in a concert performance of Joseph and the Amazing Technicoloured Dreamcoat and other works for family and friends.
A variety of musical and other activities will take place during the week including singing, vocal work in sectional groups, and musicianship classes. With the emphasis very much on fun, skills developed throughout the course will include music reading abilities, aural, pitch and rhythm awareness and music theory.
The course is open to all children regardless of their musical ability and we welcome complete beginners alongside those who are more advanced. We will be working with some of the city's finest professional musicians to create a vibrant and exciting programme.
Each day a different family of instruments will visit, giving the children a chance to learn about and hear a number of instruments of the orchestra, alongside the great Cathedral organ. At the end of the week, friends and family will be able to hear what their children have accomplished as we congregate to deliver a concert performance of their week's achievements.
Musicianship classes will be divided into 4 tiers:
Complete beginners (No grade expected)
Beginners (Instrument/theory grade 1-2)
Intermediate (Instrument/theory grade 3-5)
Advanced (Instrument/theory 5+)
