Choral and Organ Scholars Installed at Choral Evensong 1st October

Belfast Cathedral - Choral and Organ Scholars Installed at Choral Evensong 1st October

On Sunday 1 October, 2023 at the service of Choral Evensong, we were delighted to install five talented young musicians into our Cathedral Music Department. Connie, Jessica, and James join us as Choral Scholars (Alto, Soprano, and Tenor respectively), whilst Darragh joins us as the Billy Adair Memorial Organ Scholar, and Finn as our Junior Organ Scholar. It was wonderful to welcome the Scholars and their families to join the wider Cathedral community.

All five individuals have already made a lasting impression on the musical and liturgical life of our Cathedral, showing their dedication, willingness, and passion in their duties. They made a significant contribution to their Service of Introduction, with James singing the tenor solo in Howells' Collegium Regale Nunc Dimittis, Jessica the soprano solo in Will Todd's Lead me, Lord, and our worship concluding with a rousing performance of Pardini's Toccata on "Amazing Grace" by Darragh.

Well done to all those involved!

Following the service it was great to share in fellowship during a reception in the Cathedral hall.

If you're interested in opportunities to sing at Belfast Cathedral, full details can be found in the music section of our website: https://www.belfastcathedral.org/music

Evensong is one of the jewels in the crown of the Anglican choral tradition, and you can join us each Sunday in term-time at 3.30pm to share in some of the world’s most beautiful music.

Everyone is most welcome!
