Legacy Giving in Support of Belfast Cathedral
In October 2024 we at Belfast Cathedral have launched our Legacy Giving Appeal which allows anyone the opportunity to make a long term donation or legacy to Belfast Cathedral thought their will.
This can be done directly through your own solicitor. Or you can find out more about making a will, and including a donation to Belfast Cathedral as a legacy within your will, by using the on-line facility through the Will to Give organistaion at: http://www.willtogive.org/making-your-will
What is a legacy gift?
“As the Dean of Belfast Cathedral let me explain what a legacy gift is and why such gifts are important. A legacy gift, sometimes referred to as legacy giving, is a gift of an amount of money or property left in a Will. Gifts in wills have long been seen as a part of Christian giving. As we are stewards of everything we have, they can be seen as part of our Christian Stewardship. Legacy gifts, no matter how big or small, can have a significant impact on the life and work of our cathedral. Belfast Cathedral, is not only a place of worship; it is a cornerstone of cultural and community life here in Belfast. Legacy gifts support the congregational life, Cathedral music, civic events, special occasions, heritage and as the “Home of Black Santa” our significant charitable activities”.
Why I am encouraging you to leave Belfast Cathedral a Gift in Your Will…
“Here at Belfast Cathedral, I am open to any conversation concerning all gifts in Wills, however large or small. In return, I undertake that all gifts received will be used to make a significant difference to the work of the Cathedral. Our legacy policy is to use gifts to help develop the life and work of the cathedral whether buildings, equipment, mission or staff. Since needs change over the years, I am encouraging individuals to leave a gift in their will for the general purposes of the Cathedral rather than a specific purpose. You can be confident that your gift will be used to make a real difference to our future mission and ministry.”
Want to find out more about how to leave a Gift in your Will?
“I would encourage you to talk to myself directly, so that we can discuss any possible uses of your gift which you may wish to include in your Will, bearing in mind your known areas of interest in the church.
We at the Church of Ireland acknowledge that leaving anything in your Will is a deeply personal decision and only to be made after ensuring your family and loved ones are provided for. Additionally we strongly advise that anyone considering leaving a gift in their Will consult a solicitor.
Or alternatively if you feel you do not wish to discuss matters with myself or directly with a solicitor, you can follow this webpage for further information and directions

With my sincere thanks for giving this matter your careful consideration.
