Belfast Cathedral - Services for Holy Saturday and Easter Day 2023

All are invited to share in our resurrection Easter Celebrations

at Belfast Cathedral.

EASTER VIGIL SERVICE

8.00pm Saturday 8th  April - Holy Saturday.

Join us at 8.00pm for a dramatic service through the space of our cathedral, with the lighting of the Easter Flame and the Paschal Candle, and then in the retelling of God's salvation plan for humanity through the sweep of scripture, leading to the powerful account of the resurrection. Then share in a reaffirmation of Baptismal Vows in our shared preparation for the dawning of Easter Morning.

11.00am - EASTER SUNDAY 9th April

FESTIVAL EUCHARIST FOR EASTER DAY

with Stephen Hamill (Organist) and Hayley Howe (Soloist).

All are invited to join us at 11am for our Festival Easter Day Eucharist, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The preacher and celebrant is the Dean of Belfast, assisted by Rev Janice Elsdon, Rev Dr Maithrie White Dundas, Mrs Gillian McGaughey and Ms Denise Murray.

Music sung by Hayley Howe will include "I know that my redeemer liveth" from GF Handel's Messiah, "See what a morning" (S Townend & K Getty) and James McMillan's Galloway Mass. The Organ postlude will be Widor's "Toccata".

3.30pm EVENING PRAYER FOR EASTER DAY

And at 3.30pm our Holy Week and Easter Celebrations will conclude with Evening Prayer for Easter Day led by the Dean and Rev Dr Maithrie White Dundas.

 

Please note that due to the proposed visit of President Joe Biden to Northern Ireland, the cathedral will not be open to visitors on Monday 10th & Tuesday 11th April. The Cathedral will be open for visitors from 10.30am to 4.00pm from Wednesday 12th April.
